As the lab administrator, I am responsible for coordinating with outside sponsors including NOAA, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, Scientific Systems, and others on robotics research projects ranging from new methods for large pelagics tracking and tagging via a mobile application, the development of waterproof drones to identify the size and mass of the whale, and low-cost submersibles using the same software platform as ground and air vehicles. On a high level, much of our research is geared towards enabling researchers to focus on producing better research by developing multirotor and fixed wing air vehicles, ground vehicles, and surface and submersible vessels with specific use cases and a common controls system.
