In the intelligent vehicles lab, we are designing and developing autonomous vehicles based on a unique brain-based approach to autonomy, with a forebrain acting as the higher-level mission planner, midbrain handling adaptive navigation, and hindbrain handling reactive navigation. This approach to autonomy enables the creation of extremely capable, efficient robots. Projects include the development of a fast and adaptable multirotor capable of navigating in GPS-denied environments, autonomous landing between a drone and an unmanned surface vessel, and other projects.
