In order to pursue my interest in underwater vehicles, I developed a submersible vehicles lab at Olin. The intention of the submersible vehicles lab is to build a fleet of autonomous underwater vehicles capable of performing sensing and sampling missions utilizing the same low-cost, open-source controls system developed for aerial, ground, and surface vessels, allowing for multi-vehicle missions. We are currently working on upgrading a Remus 100 vehicle with updated thrusters and a controls system comprised of a Pixhawk and an Odroid as the main computing and control elements.
